Peter began ministry in 1977, serving congregations in Quebec and the Northwest Territories before joining the Wilmot ministry team in 1999. From 2003 to 2006 the congregation granted him a leave of absence and much support to serve as Moderator of The United Church of Canada. Retiring in 2009, he has continued to be part of the Wilmot community and is happy to return and join Ellen Beairsto in the ministry team during this interim period.
Susan and Peter have been married for 46 years. Their lives are blessed with four children and nine grandchildren.
Peter is a writer, baker and guitar player. He enjoys walking, cycling, reading and doing projects around the house. He has volunteer experience with the Canadian Armed Forces, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Residential Schools, counselling in family violence and community sports. He says, "I love the gifts of deep roots and deep commitment to social justice that I find at Wilmot. My life has been richly blessed in being part of this congregation."
